On Sunday afternoon the Bearcats completed their four game series at home against IU-Southeast.
Game 1 was a pitcher's duel. Bearcat Starter Zach Sciaccotta (JR/Elmwood Park, IL) matched up against IU-Southeast starter Clint Chestnut. Chestnut worked five shoutout innings allowing just two hits before giving way to Closer Evan Bickett who worked the final two innings to pick up the save in the 1-0 win. IU-Southeast got their loan run in the top of the fifth when Marcus Howard doubled home Jarret Young. Sciaccotta worked six 2/3 innings allowing the one run on six hits while striking out two.

Game 2 was another tightly contested game. IU-Southeast got on the board first on an RBI single by Kyle Rupe to make the score 1-0. That's where the score would stay until the fourth when Pitcher Christian McHatton (JR/Henderson, KY) singled home two to put the Bearcats on top 2-1. The Bearcats would add a third run in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Second Baseman Vin Barbato (SR/Utica, NY) to push the lead to two. IU-Southeast would push one more run across in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Marcus Howard before Closer Michael McIntosh (JR/Evansville, IN) slammed the door for the 3-2 win.
Bearcat Starter Christian McHatton worked six strong innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out two. McHatton picked up his fifth win of the year. McIntosh allowed a run in the seventh in route to closing out his tenth save of the year. The save tied the school record for most saves in a career. Pitching Coach Thomas Nelson and former Bearcat Parker McAllister each saved ten games across two seasons with the Bearcats. McIntosh has recorded all ten saves in this season alone.
The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday as they visit Lindsey Wilson College for one game starting at 6:00. The Bearcats currently stand at 27-12 on the year and 9-3 in KIAC play putting them one game ahead of Point Park University in the loss column with eight games to play.
