The Brescia Men's Basketball team came out flat on Saturday against a spirited squad from Purdue North Central. After trading baskets early, three consecutive turnovers to end the first half led to Panther baskets and created a 14-point deficit from which the Bearcats never recovered. PNC forward Clarence Heath played a tremendous game, scoring 21 points and pulling down 20 rebounds. Kyle Nixon led Brescia with 19 points, followed by Austin Morris with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots.
Coach Gibson on the loss: "Just like life, the game will find a way to humble you if you fail to humble yourself. We were not ready to play mentally or physically, and a large measure of that falls on me as the coach. We will spend the next couple of weeks getting back to basics and reminding ourselves what hard work and good basketball should look like, because we failed to demonstrate that today. Purdue North Central played harder and simply wanted it more than us today."
Brescia returns to action on Saturday, December 27th in an exhibition game at Western Kentucky University at 7:00pm.
