The Bearcats home series against Holy Cross College was moved to Cartersville, GA over the weekend. The Bearcats played one game on Friday night and two on Saturday.
In the first game of the series, Holy Cross jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the fourth, highlighted by First Baseman Mike Pizzuto's two run homerun. The Bearcats would get two runs back in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI triple by Catcher Aaron King and a Sac Fly by DH Christian McHatton. Holy Cross would extend the lead in the sixth with two more runs thanks in part two a pair of Bearcat errors. The Bearcats were able to tie the score at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh on a two run triple by Third Baseman Justin Cessna. Holy Cross would get two more runs in the 8th to once again take the lead and go on to a 7-5 win.
In game two, Holy Cross got three in the first and never looked back adding 8 runs in the third and two more in the fourth on their way to a 13-1 win. The Bearcats loan highlight came on Right Fielder Logan Rascoe's solo homerun.
In game three, the Bearcats jumped out to the early lead when Third Baseman Justin Cessna led off with a triple and scores on a Sac Fly by Right Fielder Logan Rascoe. The score would stay 1-0 until the top of the sixth when Holy Cross pushed two runs across to take a 2-1 lead. The Bearcats answered in the bottom half of the sixth when Rascoe hit a two run inside-the-park homerun to take the lead back 3-2. The game was called in the seventh due to rain giving the Bearcats the 3-2 win. Freshman Pitcher Riley Brown made his first college start and worked 5 1/3 allowing two runs and striking out five. Senior Ryan Lutz worked the last 2/3 of an inning to pick up the win in relief.
