Brescia will make its first-ever appearance in the NAIA Division II National Tournament as they take on defending champion and number 1 overall seed Indiana Wesleyan University in Keeter Gymnasium at the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri. The Bearcats will face off against the Wildcats at 5:45pm on Wednesday, March 11th.
Brescia qualified for the NAIA National Tournament by winning the KIAC South Division Championship with a record of 19-10 and 10-3 in KIAC play. IU-East finished as the champions of the North Division with an 11-2 KIAC record and won the first KIAC Tournament title in school history as they defeated Point Park 84-67 in the championship game. That win gave IU-East the first KIAC automatic bid and clinched the second one for Brescia as South Division champions.
The trip to the National Tournament continues a season of firsts for Brescia. The 2014-15 season has already seen the Bearcats claim the first men's basketball KIAC title in school history, the first KIAC Coach of the Year award in program history, and the first KIAC Player of the Year award in school history.
Indiana Wesleyan is the No. 1 overall seed and defending champion in the 32-team single elimination tournament. The Wildcats have been ranked No. 1 in every NAIA DII Poll this season and enter the tournament with a 30-2 overall record. Indiana Wesleyan earned an automatic bid as the Crossroads League Regular Season and Tournament Champion. This is the seventh consecutive trip for Indiana Wesleyan to the national tournament and the eighth overall for the Wildcats, with a tournament record of 14-6, including the 2014 National Championship.
