Jack Etchison - Head Men's Tennis Coach
Jack Etchison begins his fifth season as the head men's tennis coach at Brescia University (33-33). The men are coming off their second consecutive KIAC Conference Championship and their first ever trip to the NAIA National Championships. The Bearcats will look to continue to dominate the KIAC with 5 returning starters, four of which were all–conference selections.
In his four years at Brescia Etchison has produced three regular season KIAC championships, two KIAC Conference tournament championships along with three NAIA Scholar-Athletes, eight KIAC Scholar- Athletes, 13 KIAC all-conference performers and two KIAC conference players of the year. In addition Etchison has been named the KIAC coach of the year twice
Etchison played for two seasons at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana where he graduated in 1985. In his final season he was a Great Lakes Valley Conference finalist at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. In two years at Lincoln Trail College, in Robinson, IL, he was the No. 1 singles and doubles player, reaching the region finals twice. A native of Flora, IL he was a four-year letter winner at No.1 singles and No. 1 doubles, advancing to the state tournament all four years, where he was a quarterfinalist as a junior and senior. Etchison has held numerous USTA district, sectional and national rankings, reaching as high as No. 28 in the nation.
As a certified USPTA and USPTR Pro, Etchison has taught tennis for over 15 years including manager/head professional for the Wabash Valley Tennis Club in Terre Haute, IN where two of his students won USTA national championships. Most recently he has served as tennis professional for the Executive Racquet Club in Owensboro, KY
