Alan Schulze enters his first year as the head coach of the Brescia men's and women's track and field programs. He has been the assistant cross country coach for Brescia the previous three years . In cross country he has helped coach fifteen athletes to the NAIA national cross-country and track and field meets.
Coach Schulze also helped lead a steeplechase crew that had three of the top five scorers at the 2010 KIAC conference outdoor track and field championships.
In the fall of 2009 Coach Schulze joined the Bearcats for his first season with the team. Schulze joined the team after several years as an athlete and coach at the University of Southern Indiana.
Schulze is a 2006 graduate of the University of Southern Indiana where he competed for the cross country, indoor, and outdoor track and field teams. Academically Alan graduated with a degree in Physical Education (K-12) teaching, along with a minor in Health Education, and endorsements in coaching and Driver Education. He is a multiple-time recipient of Dean's List Honors.
During his time as an athlete, USI won three GLVC cross country championships. As a track athlete Alan mainly ran distance races, focusing on the mile/1500 meter run.
After graduation Schulze worked with the University of Southern Indiana cross country and track teams as a volunteer assistant coach. In that time the men's teams won back to back GLVC cross country title and sent teams to NCAA Division II Nationals both years. The women's team followed in nearly equal success winning two GLVC championships and sending a team along with the men to NCAA Division II cross country nationals.
