Will Van Nostrand is currently entering into his third season as the head coach of the Brescia University men's soccer program.
In his first season, joining only weeks before the season began in August, Van Nostrand guided the team to a 5th place KIAC finish, while having two players earn All-Conference.
During the second season with Van Nostrand at the helm, the Bearcats saw vast improvements in almost every statistical aspect. Brescia finished the season 9-8, which was the best overall record since 2006, most team wins in a season since 2006 and first winning season since 2006 as well. They also finished conference play tied for 4th in conference and earning a 5th place seed in the RSC tournament. The team also finished the 2016 regular season ranked 21st nationally in Assists per Game at 2.43, as well as ranked 38th in Total Assists at 36 and we also finished the 2016 regular season ranked 41st in Goals per Game in at 2.56. Two players also earned All-Conference honors.
Previous to being named Head Coach at Brescia University, Van Nostrand spent one season as the Men's Assistant at Anderson University (SC) an NCAA Division II Intuition, where he played collegiately. At Anderson, Van Nostrand worked under former teammate, friend and current Head Coach Michael Zion. Together they lead Anderson to an 8-win season, finishing 6-5 with a top 5 finish in the (SAC) Southern Athletic Conference. During that season, Van Nostrand coached an Academic All-American and NCAA DII All-Region player, as well as four All-SAC players and the SAC Freshman of the Year.
Prior to his year at Anderson, Van Nostrand, who is a Louisville, KY native, spent two season as the Graduate Assistant Men's & Women's Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Spalding University, an NCAA Division III Institute.
While at Spalding, Van Nostrand worked under current Men's Head Coach Adam Boyer and current Women's Head Coach Shilo Rayburn. During his time with Spalding, Van Nostrand helped the Men's program to a 6-10-2 record in 2012 and a 10-9 record in 2013, an improvement from the 1-15 program that Coach Boyer and Coach Van Nostrand inherited. Van Nostrand also helped the Women's program to a 9-8 record in 2012 and a 9-8-2 record in 2013, an improvement from the 4-13 program Coach Rayburn and Coach Van Nostrand inherited. During his time at Spalding, Van Nostrand helped a total of eleven Men's and Women's players earn twelve All-SLIAC (St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) honors, one NCAA DIII All-Region honor, as well as a Men's SLIAC Men's Freshman of the Year in honor in 2012 and the Women's SLIAC Freshman of the Year honor in 2013.
In addition to coaching collegiately, Van Nostrand has coached at Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA) and Louisville Soccer Academy (LSA). Van Nostrand is also coached the LSA U23 men's team, who have won back-to-back U23 Tournament of Champions championships in 2014 and 2015. He currently works for Owensboro United and helped the 1999 Girls finish State Cup Runners-up and helped the 2000 Boys reach the Region II Presidents Cup. He currently holds his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.
As a player, Van Nostrand spent one collegiate season at NCAA Division II Anderson University in Anderson, SC and three seasons at Spalding University in Louisville, KY earning 2x All-KIAC honors, 1x All-SLIAC honors, NCAA Academic All-Region honors and USCAA All-American honors. Van Nostrand also spent one season in the Professional Development League (PDL) with the West Palm Beach Pumas of West Palm Beach, Florida.
As a student-athlete Van Nostrand earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and his master's degree in Business Communication with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership, both from Spalding University.
Van Nostrand resides in Owensboro. He enjoys attending live sporting events, hiking, reading, attending concerts, traveling and he is an avid Manchester United fan.
