Baseball Takes First Conference Series of the Year
CIRCLEVILLE, Oh. - The Brescia University baseball team hit the road again for another conference matchup in Ohio against Ohio Christian University. The Bearcats took game one on the day with a 5-1 victory over the Trailblazers. Game two went to OCU as they take the win on a walk-off to beat the Bearcats, 5-4. The Bearcats made a huge statement with the bats in the series finale as they took the series 2-1, after their 11-1 victory in game three. BU extended their record to 9-18 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

The Bearcats took game one on the day with a 5-1 victory over the Trailblazers. Game two went to OCU as they take the win on a walk-off to beat the Bearcats, 5-4. The Bearcats made a huge statement with the bats in the series finale as they took the series 2-1, after their 11-1 victory in game three. BU extended their record to 9-18 overall and 3-6 in conference play.
Game one: Bearcats 5, Trailblazers 1
The Bearcats struck the first blow at the top of the first as an error would push Demarco Miller across the plate for BU's first run of the inning. Josh Cossitt kept the scoring going with an RBI single as Gavin Huebner came around the bases to add another run. Preston Franey allowed no runs until the fifth where the Trailblazers cut the lead in half on an RBI double. OCU's errors got the best of them as a misplayed ball in right field scored another run for the Bearcats. BU added to their lead in the fifth and sixth innings as they took game one with a final score of 5-1. Josh Cossitt went 3-for-5 at the plate with one RBI as Kendal Kortz went 2-for-4 with a triple. Jonny Foti also added two hits of his own as he went 2-for-3 with a double. Pitcher Preston Franey went 7.2 innings while only allowing only one run while earning the win.
Game Two/Three: Bearcats 4 (11), Trailblazers 5 (1)
The Bearcats kept the momentum going in the second game as Gamble hit a hard ground ball to score Mikey Clements from third. The bats slowed down for BU as OCU errors continued to give the Bearcats opportunities to score. BU extended their lead to four in the fifth and sixth innings as back-to-back hits scored runs for the Bearcats. The Trailblazers would show life at the plate as they pushed across three runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Bearcats would fail to add insurance in the top half of the seventh as the Trailblazers take the lead and win, 5-4. Manning Webb picks up the loss on the bump after his six innings of work. Kendal Kortz and Jonathan Foti led the Bearcats in the batter's box as they combined for four hits in seven at-bats.
Almost every Bearcat touched bases in game three as the BU bats erupted. Brescia outhit the Trailblazers 9-6 while scoring 11 runs on four errors.
Up next, the Bearcats are slated to play a midweek matchup against Kentucky Christian at home this Wednesday, Mar. 20th at 1pm CT.
