Baseball Opens Up Conference at Midway
MIDWAY, Ky. – The Brescia University baseball team opened up their conference campaign against Midway University in a three-game series this past weekend. The Bearcats came out victorious in one of the three against the Eagles. They extend their overall record to 6-8 and 1-2 in River States Conference play.

The Bearcats came out victorious in one of the three against the Eagles. They extend their overall record to 6-8 and 1-2 in River States Conference play.
The Bearcats breezed past the Eagles in game one of the series with a 9-3 win. Midway would get on the board first on a sacrifice fly in the second inning. A home run by Grant Huebner tied the game in the third as another long ball by Miguel Marcos gave Brescia the lead. The Bearcats put up a four-run ninth inning to seal the win in game one. Three Bearcats tabbed multiple hits with Marcos adding three RBIs. Brian Gonzalez earned the win on the bump allowing just three hits and one run.
After taking a one run lead in game two, the Eagles quickly matched with a two run first inning. Caysen Mitchell kept the Eagles at bay through four innings of work with six strikeouts. The Bearcats pushed across two runs in back-to-back innings taking the 3-2 lead. Errors allowed the Eagles to reach safely as Midway took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Midway would go on to win game two of the series, 5-3.
Looking to take the series, Chase Christie got the Bearcats on the bord in game three on his one run single. A single by Midway scored two runs as the Eagles retook the lead. BU couldn't push anymore runs to home as they dropped the series finale, 4-1.
Pending weather, the Bearcats will host Kentucky State on Wednesday, March 4 at a venue to be determined.
