Men's Basketball Gets Back on Track with Win Over Crowley's Ridge
OWENSBORO, KY – The Brescia University men’s basketball team improved to 2-1 following last night’s win over Crowley’s Ridge, 79-67. The Bearcats look to continue the momentum as they head into another conference matchup with Midway this coming weekend.
Anthony Lopez would get the scoring started for the Bearcats with a layup through traffic. After some miscommunication with the starting five, a whole new lineup would enter in for the Bearcats. Mark Cooper would make the Bearcats next two baskets with back-to-back jumpers. The Pioneers would take advantage of the change and stride out on a 12-2 run. Gonzalo Luque would get the Bearcats within one with a jump shot on the block as Camden Pfeister would get fouled on the next possession. He would sink one of the two free throws to tie the game at 19 apiece. As the Bearcats and Pioneers battle for the lead, the game would come to a deadlock as a made layup by Pfeister would knot the score again going into half.
A 6-2 run out of the locker room for the Pioneers would make it a four-point game for CRC. BU started to ramp up the intensity in their defensive game as they force the Pioneers into making bad shots. The Bearcats would extend their lead to eight as they start to pull away from Crowley's Ridge on a made three-pointer from Pfeister. The Pioneers would attempt a comeback as a made three would cut the Bearcat deficit to four. With a minute left on the game clock, Ksuan Casey would sink the dagger three with just seconds left on the shot clock to extend the lead for the Bearcats. The Pioneer offense would fall apart under the pressure of the clock as the Bearcats take the 12-point lead at the end of regulation.
The big man himself, Ksuan Casey, would lead the pack with 22 points on 8-9 shooting and six rebounds. Camden Pfeister would continue his hot streak as he puts up 19 on 6-8 shooting and 6-10 from the charity stripe. Anthony Lopez and Gonzalo Luque also tabbed double-digit performances in the win.
The Bearcats will head to Midway, KY to take on the Eagles of Midway for another conference matchup on Saturday, Dec. 2 with a tip-off time of 2pm CT.
