After a difficult start to the season, the Bearcats finally seemed to piece together their offense in this conference opener. BU took an early 7-2 lead over the Pomeroys to start the opening minutes. The second unit maintained the lead for the Bearcats until a layup by SMWC took the advantage with 12 minutes to go. Freshman, Juante Jenkins, made scoring look effortless as he scored eight straight for the Bearcats in less than a minute. BU forced seven turnovers in the first half as they held a 12-point lead going into the break.
The energy was high coming out of the locker room for BU and it translated on the court. BU forced a Pomeroy timeout as they made three of their last five shots. Jordan Cooke came alive in the second half as he went 4-8 from the field and 4-4 from the line for 12 points. Israel Momodu and Jenkins each tacked on 11 points apiece in the closing half along with a combined 12 rebounds. The Bearcats never relinquished the lead as they grabbed the 100-84 victory. This is the first time this season that the Bearcats reached the century mark as they scored their season high.
Jenkins led the way with 30 points on 13-25 shooting with three threes and eight rebounds. Momodu added 22 points with eight rebounds, and four blocks, in the win. Two other Bearcats were in double digits in Jordan Cooke (17) and Linkin Lockhart (18) and combined for 10 boards.
