Men's Basketball Suffers 4-point Loss on the Road

In the latest rivalry matchup for the Bearcats, BU saw an early 22-7 deficit as the Grenadiers shot from the beyond the arc early and often. A three pointer from Alex Evans and back-to-back buckets from Xavi Tirado ignited the comeback for the Bearcats. Irael Momodu caught fire late in the half with two threes of his own to cut the IUS lead to one. Despite the surge in production, the Grenadiers battled back to command a 10-point lead at the break.
The Bearcats opened the second half on an 8-2 run as they continued to fight through the IUS defense. The Grenadiers maintained a healthy six-to-eight-point lead until the Bearcats took advantage of IUS missed shots. With back-to-back BU made layups, Braxton Highbaugh had a chance to tie the matchup for the first time at the charity stripe. After sinking both shots, the pressure was on to earn their first lead of the game. Fouls and untimely turnovers returned the lead to IU Southeast where they never relinquished the advantage. Despite the 53-point second half, the Bearcats suffered the 92-88 loss on the road.
Izzy Momodu led all scorers with 21 on 7-12 shooting and five threes. Jordan Cooke followed behind with 20 points and five assists while Linkin Lockhart ended with 16 on 7-13 shooting.
The Bearcats will travel to Ohio Christian on Thursday, Jan 15 to take on the Trailblazers at 6pm.
