Men's Basketball Shut Down Oakland City at Home
OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University men’s basketball team picked up an important win over Oakland City Tuesday evening. With the win, the Bearcats are tied with two other teams for the third place in the West Division. The Bearcats record improved to 3-13 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

There were just two lead changes in this rivalry game as the Bearcats took the advantage at the 8:42 minutes mark on a Linkin Lockhart made three. Back-to-back triples from Kabryen Tinson extended the BU lead to 10 in the first half. Marcos Mejia added to the total with five points in his first minute and a half of action. Jordan Cooke and Lockhart were the Brescia offense in the opening half as they combined for 27 of BU's 49 points. With the 11-point lead at the break, the Bearcats looked to hold their advantage.
Another three by Cooke gave the Bearcats their biggest lead of the night at 20 with 14 minutes to go. The Mighty Oaks began to slowly chip away at the Bearcat lead as Kalik Sharpe made 12 straight points for OCU. Two consecutive three pointers cut the BU lead to 12 with less than 10 minutes to play. Despite struggling from the field in the second half, BU held on to the lead as they defeated the Mighty Oaks 96-90.
Jordan Cooke led all scorers with 30 points for his career high while grabbing six rebounds and four threes. Linkin Lockhart followed with 24 points and eight rebounds. Braden Waller and Kabryen Tinson each added 11 to the total in the win.
The Bearcats are set to host the Red Wolves of IU East this coming Saturday, Jan. 24, at 3pm.
