Men's Soccer Struggles to Surpass Panthers for the Mayor's Cup

OWENSBORO, KY. – The Brescia University men's soccer team headed down the street take on the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan College for the Mayor's Cup. The Panthers will keep the cup this year as they take the match, 5-1.
To start the Mayor's Cup, it would only take the Panthers three minutes into regulation to score their first goal to take a 1-0 advantage. Fortunately, the Bearcats were able to regather and keep KWC to just one by halftime. The BU defense would give up two goals early in the second half until Declan Armistead scored the first goal on a pass from Ahmed Abdullahi for the Bearcats with 18 minutes remaining. The Bearcats were unable to hold off the Panthers as KWC would put up two more goals to cap off their high scoring night.
Armistead was the only offense for the Bearcats as he nets his first goal of the season. Chase Garrett would grab three saves on eight shots for his third loss of the year.
The Bearcats hit the pitch again this Saturday against the visiting Freed Hardeman Lions with a kickoff time of 2 pm.
