Bearcats fall to University of Pikeville
Brescia University Men's Tennis traveled to Berea, KY to take on University of Pikeville and host Berea College.
Bearcats struggled against University of Pikeville and were unable to come away with any wins against a strong opponent. In doubles, Brescia's pairs were Turilo Duck/Jose Alcazar and Kevin Larrea/Fernando Garcia. Both pairs played well, but came up short against Pikeville's players. Brescia was unable to contest the 3rd doubles matchup and had to forfeit, giving Pikeville 3-0 lead going into singles play. Bearcats lost four in singles and had to forfeit two, giving University of Pikeville the win 9-0.
Coach Chernova had this to say about the day, "I am proud of the guys and how they competed. University of Pikeville is a tough opponent and we need to play teams like Pikeville to get better and prepare for the conference matches. Turilo Duck and Jose Alcazar competed very well at #1 doubles but came up short. They played Berea College right after losing to University of Pikeville and managed to regroup after a tough match. The team did very well against Berea. We are getting mentally and physically stronger and we are looking forward to travel to Pulaski, TN to play against Martin Methodist on Tuesday, March 21."
Bearcats are in action again March 21st, as they travel to Pulaski, Tennessee.
