Bearcats Compete at the DePauw Indoor Invitational
The Brescia men's track and field team competed at the DePauw Indoor Invitational on Februrary 15.
In the 60m dash, Marvin Ramirez (FR, Owensboro, Ky.) finished 10 with a 7.39. Brandon Stacker (SR, Bowling Green, Ky.) and Devin Roche (JR, Auburn, Ky.) also competed in the 60m, sprinting 7.58 and 7.92, respectively. Ramirez and Jayden Wesley (SO, Pikeville, Ky.) competed in the 200m, running 24.73 and 24.80 seconds, respectively. Roche and Joseph Tapia (FR, Owensboro, Ky.) also competed in the 200m, finishing in 42 and 47 place, respectively.
Landon Holt (SR, Dawson Springs, Ky.) finished just shy of qualifying for NAIA Nationals in the 400m, winning the meet with a 50.04 -- nearly two seconds faster than the second place finisher.
The 4x200m relay team of Holt, Stacker, Ramirez, and Wesley ran the event in 1:37.43 -- scoring five points for the Bearcats and finishing fifth.
In mid-distance events, Benjamin Brown (FR, Memphis, Mich.) ran 1:31.24 seconds in the 600m and finished seventh -- scoring two points for the Bearcats. Tyler Walz (FR, Hawesville, Ky.) competed in the 1,000m and also finished seventh, running 2:58.83.
In the final individual distance event of the meet, Brown, Wes Wheatley (FR, Hawesville, Ky.), and James Barrow (FR, Elizabethtown, Ky.) ran the 3,000m in 9:50, 11:00, and 11:10, respectively.
The distance medley team of Brown, Roche, Walz, and Charlie McCallister (FR, Murray, Ky.) ran 12:30.31, scoring one point for Brescia.
In field events, Bryce Ladd (FR, Benton, Ky.) vaulted 3.60m in pole vault and placed seventh, scoring two points for Brescia. Jacob Stanley (SO, Owensboro, Ky.) and Ramirez jumped 5.35m and 5.23m, respectively. In the Bearcats' final jumping event of the meet, Stanley jumped 11.82m in triple jump, placing fifth and earning four points for Brescia.
In shot put, Andrew Parker (SO, Louisville, Ky.) threw 10.21m, while Zac Johnson (SR, Leitchfield, Ky.) and James Vanmeter (SO, Lebanon Junction, Ky.) threw 9.46m and 9.31m, respectively. Parker and Vanmeter threw 12.57m and 9.83m in weight throw, respectively.
The Bearcats will be back in action on February 21 at the Eastern Illinois University Friday Night Special.
