OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University men's volleyball team took on the Tigers of #5 Campbellsville at home this last Tuesday night. Despite taking one set from the Tigers, CU came out on top three sets to one over the Bearcats.
Campbellsville quickly showed their national ranking by taking an early lead in set one. Ultimately, after taking a dominating lead, the Tigers earned the first set win 25-12. The Bearcats struggled to keep up the offense as they hit .125 as a team in the set. It looked like the Tigers had peaked too soon as they shared the same struggles as BU in set two. Brescia strung runs together to put the #5 team on their backs, taking set two, 25-18.
With the tied set scores, Campbellsville picked up the momentum by forcing the Bearcats into rushed attacks. BU stayed within arm's length of the Tiger's lead in set three but ran out of time as they dropped the set 25-18. Set four allowed for another battle between the teams that Campbellsville ended up victorious in.
Malo Vanderwalle continues to shine in the offensive column leading the Bearcats with 12 kills. Remi Pit and Mustafa Yildiz followed with eight kills apiece. Will Hernandez and Finn Berger combined for 37 assists while Berger added seven digs.
The Bearcats will travel to Georgetown College on Friday, Feb. 27 at 6pm.
