Men's Cross Country Season Preview
The men's cross country team starts its season on September 7, when the team competes in the Drakes Creek Scramble.
"I'm excited to see how the team does as the season begins," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel. "Our squad is young, but there is a lot of potential. We have been working to build the program back up and landed some solid recruits who will help us do that."
The Bearcats were voted to finish last in the River States Conference in the RSC Preseason Poll, but the team has higher expectations.
"I think we could really surprise some teams in the conference this season," said Assistant Coach Kyle Robinson. "We are currently seeded last, but we have had some solid competition in practice so far."
The team features a lot of young talent. The current top five spots are all filled by freshmen.
"Benjamin Brown (FR, Memphis, Mich.) and Charlie McCallister (FR, Murray, Ky.) have been looking strong in practice and pushing each other through workouts. Tyler Walz (FR, Hawesville, Ky.) and Wes Wheatley (FR, Hawesville, Ky.) have been battling back and forth as well and look to make an impact on the team," said Stoffel.
"James Barrow (FR, Elizabethtown, Ky.), Jaylin Gildersleeve (FR, Clarksville, Tenn.), and Ethan Dooley (FR, Hopkinsville, Ky.) are all competing to score and pushing eachother in practice," added Stoffel.
