Bearcats Compete at NAIA Great Lakes Challenge
The Brescia men's cross country team competed at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge, which is hosted in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on October 23rd.
This was the team's largest meet of the season, featuring 263 athletes competing in the 8k White Race. The men raced well, with each athlete running either a season PR (personal record) or a career PR.
Benjamin Brown (JR/Memphis, MI) was the first Bearcat to finish the 8k, running 29:56 and placing 191st. This was Brown's first race under 30 minutes this season, with his previous season best being 30:36 at the Brescia Invitational.
Wes Wheatley (JR/Hawesville, KY) was the next athlete to cross the finish line, running 32:33 and beating his previous season best of 32:56.
James Barrow (JR/Elizabethtown, KY) was the third Bearcat to finish, racing to a season PR of 33:47.
Shortly after Barrow finished, Draven Stewart (SO/Leitchfield, KY) completed the race with a career PR of 34:15 in the 8k. This was Stewart's second time running a career PR this season, with the first being a 34:21 performance at the Huntington XC Invitational.
The Bearcats will be back in action on November 6th at the River States Conference Championship in Richmond, Indiana.
