The men's and women's cross-country teams kicked off their season at the Berea College/Centre College Jamboree at Berea College Cross Country Alumni Fields. Although not participating in the team 4k run, Breanna Alderton and Carmela Shorkey were nothing short of amazing in their first run. Breanna Alderton picked up where she left off last season as she finished 3rd in the 4k race with a time of 14:27. Carmela Shorkey finished 17th with a time of 16 minutes flat. Both ladies beat the Brescia cross country time record of 16:09 for the 4k run.
The men's team did not fare as well as the women as Gerrick Sheffer finishes the 6k run in 46th while Brody Kurz, Matthew Parson, and Nicholas Greer finished sub-50.
The men and women will return the racecourse on Saturday Sep. 16 at the Midway Invitational in Midway, KY.
