OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University women's soccer team earned a significant win over the visiting Georgetown College Tigers, 2-1, at home. The Bearcats improved their record to 5-2 on the year before heading into conference play.
Avenging their 1-0 loss to the Tigers last season, the Bearcats found the net twice in the second half to win the close matchup. The first goal of the match went in favor of the Tigers as a free kick near the midfield line floated into the box for a Georgetown header and goal. The first half would end shortly after as the Bearcats regrouped. In the 65th minute of this physical match, Lillie Carman would get fouled just inside the box, giving BU a chance at a penalty kick. Ana Victorica netted her seventh goal of the season from the PK to knot the score. BU continued to maintain possession as they pressured the Tiger defense. A shot in the box by Allana Colen Porto gave Victorica another chance on the rebound as she sank her second goal of the day.
The Bearcats battled back for the win putting up two unanswered goals in the second half as they improved to 5-2. BU outshot the Tigers 14-5 while both goalies tallied three saves.
BU will travel to Grayson, KY to take on Kentucky Christian in their conference opener Saturday, Sep. 27th at 12pm.
