Women's Tennis Opens Season at RSC Individual Tournament
The Brescia women's tennis team opened its season in the River States Conference (RSC) Individual Tournament on August 30 and 31, competing at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
The RSC Individual Tournament was a bracket style format where the top seed from each team plays each other. Each player on the team played her seed from a different team.
In the purple draw, Hannah-Joy Simms (SO, Freeport, Bahamas) advanced to the quarterfinals, before losing to Indiana University- East, 6-7, 6-4, and 10-4.
In the blue draw, Mazvita Ngorosha (SO, Oxford, Ohio) made it to the quarterfinals, but then lost to Indiana University - Kokomo, 6-1 and 6-1.
Melony Dunaway (FR, Cynthiana, Ky.) was defeated in the opening round of the white draw, losing to Indiana University - Kokomo, 6-1 and 6-2.
Sierra Thompson (SO, Springfield, Ill.) advanced to the second round of the black draw, before losing to Indiana University - Kokomo, 6-0 and 6-0.
Following the individual tournament, the Bearcats competed in the doubles draws.
Simms/Eleni Stravolemos (SO, Novi Sad, Serbia) fell to Midway University in the second round of the green draw.
In the gold draw, Ngorosha/Dunaway dropped the second round to Midway, 6-0.
The Bearcats will be back in action on September 22 on the road against Oakland City University at 2:00 p.m.
