Volleyball Welcomes New Assistant; Scrimmage Recap
OWENSBORO, Ky - The Brescia University volleyball team welcomes new Assistant Coach in midst of season kickoff scrimmage with Vincennes University.
The Brescia Bearcat family would like to welcome Madison Ralph to the volleyball coaching staff. Coach Ralph is stepping in as the assistant volleyball coach. She is from Owensboro, KY graduating from Daviess County High school, where she played as a defensive specialist. Coach Ralph went on to play for Oakland City and Bethel University, where she served as team captain. Madison earned her degree in Human Performance and Physical Education from Bethel University and recently moved back to Owensboro after accepting a position as the new PE teacher at Eastview Elementary!
Last night the Lady Bearcats took on the Trailblazers of Vincennes University in a 4-set scrimmage at home. "I was pleasantly surprised with our performance last night. Everyone showed up to play, took constructive criticism, and applied it to their game" said Coach Rhodes. This year, the volleyball team consist of 4 seniors; Hannah Beitler, Joie Porter, Braelyn Rhodes, and Shealyn Riggs. "These 4 are great leaders and each bring something different to the team", says Coach Rhodes. Also returning this year are, sophomores; Nevaeh DeArmond, Katie Fitzgerald, Jasmin Jones, and Sydney Stevens. The Bearcats volleyball team is also joined by newcomers in freshmen Emilyann Petri (Owensboro, KY) and McKiah Shearer (Indianapolis, IN).
