Lady Bearcats Grab Their First Win of the Season

OWENSBORO, KY - The Brescia University women's volleyball team received their first win of the season as they defeated Alice Lloyd in three sets. The Lady Bearcats extended their overall record to 2-18 and 1-10 in RSC play.

The Bearcats would jump out to a quick 3-0 lead over the Eagles on kills from Cheaney Archer, Cetera Warren, and Olivia Shaver. Attack errors would riddle the Alice Lloyd offense giving the Bearcats a six-point advantage in set one. BU would go on a 6-1 run over the Eagles as they take a dominating lead over ALC. The Eagles would try to work their way back, but ultimately could not as the Bearcats take set one, 25-11.

In set two, the Bearcats would jump out to a monstrous 6-0 lead over ALC. The Eagles would score four unanswered points to get within three of the lead. BU would run up the score on a 11-2 run take the lead 17-7. The Bearcats never relinquished the lead as they take set two 25-16.

The Eagles would lead majority of the third set until the Bearcats would break open the match on a 7-1 run to take the lead 19-14. BU would go on a late five-point run to take set three 25-20 and the match in three sets.

Jasmin Jones led the Bearcat offense with 10 kills on 17 chances while Cetera Warren followed closely behind with nine kills. Cheaney Archer and Olivia Shaver combined for 27 assists in the match.

The Bearcats will compete Saturday, October 15^th in the Bearcat Tri-Match featuring games against Shawnee State and UHSP.
