Lady Bearcats Compete at RSC Preview
The Brescia women's cross country team competed at the IU East Run With the Wolves Invite, which doubled as the conference preview for the River States Conference.
After being split into two heats due to efforts to socially distance the event, the women's race only had 33 finishers. "The small race size definitely impacted the team's performance. We have a young team that will continue to improve as the season goes on," sad Head Coach Luke Stoffel.
"The Bearcats competed well and now we've seen the conference championship course. We know what to expect when the RSC championship comes around," said Stoffel.
The women were led by Abagale Huelsman (SO, Fort Branch, Ind.), who completed the 5k in 21:54 and placed eighth.
Next, Sophia Warthen (FR, Elizabethtown, Ky.) crossed the finish line in 22:45, making her debut for the Bearcats. Raegan Halley (SO, McLeansboro, Ill.) was third for the Bearcats, finishing in 25:12.
Mckenzie Severs (SO, Hawesville, Ky.) and Marianne Glaziner (SO, Terre Haute, Ind.) rounded out the top five for the team, finishing in 25:32 and 26:26, respectively.
Brescia will be back in action on September 26th at the Rio Grande Classic in Rio Grande, Ohio at 1:05 p.m.
