Bearcats Grab First Sweep in Conference Play
OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Brescia University baseball team pulled the brooms out as they grab their first sweep of the season against a conference opponent in IUPUC. The Bearcats extend their overall record to 12-20 as they even up their conference record to 6-6.

Game one: Bearcats 6 IUPUC 5
The first game of the series started out in a pitcher's duel as the games' first runs came in the bottom of the fourth inning with the Bearcats striking first with four runs. Preston Franey pitched seven innings of scoreless baseball as the BU bats scored two more in the bottom of the seventh. The Crimson Pride of IUPUC did not yield as they scored four runs in the next two innings. It came down to a bases loaded jam for the Bearcats in the top of the ninth as Josh Martini slammed the door on the Crimson Pride's efforts to tie the game. The Bearcats walked away unscathed with the 6-5 win.
Game two: Bearcats 12 IUPUC 6
The Bearcats picked up right where they left off in day two of the series as they grab game one of the day, 12-6. The offense came out firing on all cylinders as their 11-hit performance put up 12 runs. BU had seven runs by the fifth inning as the Bearcats knocked the starting pitcher off the mound. Jonathon Foti grabbed his fourth win on the bump as he pitched six innings with eight strikeouts while allowing just three runs in the win.
Game three: Bearcats 7 IUPUC 2 (7-innings)
The Bearcats wasted no time getting the scoring party started as they scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Gavin Huebner put the Cats on the board first as he drove in a run off of a single. The Bearcats added two more runs in the bottom of the second as the offense halted the rest of the game. Manning Webb kept the Crimson Pride scoreless until their two runs in the last two innings. Webb grabbed his second win of the year in the complete game effort while allowing just one earned run.
Key Performances:
- Bryce Gamble went 5-for-7 at the plate with two homeruns in game two and three RBIs
- Preston Franey pitched seven innings of scoreless baseball in game one in the win
- Demarco Miller went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBIs, a double, a triple, and a walk in game two
- Gavin Huebner, Hugo Benoit, and Cason Troutman combine for seven hits in 10 at-bats each with RBIs
