LADY BEARCATS TAB FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Brescia University women's basketball team defeats Carlow, 70-53, to earn their first win in RSC play. The Lady Bearcats extend their overall record to 2-15 and 1-7 in conference.
In the first quarter, the Bearcats would jump out to an early 20-4 lead as Hannah Sykora would start her scoring night with 10 points. The second quarter would prove difficult for the Bearcats as the Celtics would outscore BU 18-10 as they began to chip away at the lead. Going into the locker rooms, Hannah Sykora would lead the Bearcats with 10 points as Madelyn Lyon begins her historic night with 8 rebounds, 5 blocks, and just three points.
Out of the locker rooms, Lindsey Peyton would begin her 14 point scoring streak with a three-pointer. The Bearcats would go on a 14-4 run to extend their lead 46-30. Brescia would continue to pressure the Celtic offense as they run away with the lead and take their first win 71-57.
Four Bearcats ended in double digit points as Hannah Sykora would lead the way with her career high of 17 points. Paige Vanzant followed closely behind with 16 points as she shot 7-11 from the floor and 2-4 behind the arc. Lindsey Peyton finished with 14 points as she shot 50% from the floor. Lastly, Madelyn Lyon capped off her historic night with her first career triple-double as she tabbed 10 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 blocks. She record the first triple-double with blocks in Bearcat history.
The Bearcats continue their road trip as they head to Point Park University to take on the Pioneers on Saturday, January 14th with a tip-off time of 1 pm CT.
