Women's Basketball Improves to 4-3 in Split Games Over the Weekend
OWENSBORO/GEORGETOWN, KY – The Brescia University women’s basketball team split in their two games this past weekend with a win against CU-Harrodsburg and a loss to Georgetown. They extend their record to 4-3 on the year.

OWENSBORO/GEORGETOWN, KY – The Brescia University women's basketball team split in their two games this past weekend with a win against CU-Harrodsburg and a loss to Georgetown. They extend their record to 4-3 on the year.
Game 1: Brescia 87 CUH 33
In this high scoring affair, Elise Williams would start the scoring for the Bearcats on a layup. Back-to-back shots by Jaylee Covington and Paige Vanzant to give the Bearcats a four-point lead. The scoring wouldn't stop there as the Bearcats surged out on a 28-5 run on the Pioneers to end the first quarter. Both teams would remain quiet throughout the second half until a baseline jumper from Madelyn Lyon would extend the Bearcat lead to 30 as she breaks the scoring drought.
The Bearcats continued to add to their commanding lead after the half as BU outscored the Pioneers 35-11 in the final two quarters to seal the win, 87-33.
Lindsey Peyton continues her offensive dominance as she led the team with 15 points and six rebounds. Madelyn Lyon followed closely behind with 14 points and 14 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Raquel Crooke-Losada and Malyea Partinger combined for 21 points as they each reached double figures.
Game 2: Georgetown 102 Brescia 49
The Bearcats did not fare well against the Tigers of Georgetown as they picked up their biggest loss of the season. The undefeated Tigers held true to their name as their shooting game gave them a 41-14 lead after the first quarter. The Bearcats struggled taking care of the ball as 24 turnovers and a 37.3% shooting percentage would be the ultimate demise in the loss.
Lindsey Peyton led with 13 points on 5-13 shooting while Genesis Ghide-Bryan followed with 11 points on 5-6 shooting.
The Lady Bearcats won't take the floor again until after the Thanksgiving break when they face conference opponent, IU-Southeast, on Tuesday Nov. 28 at 4:30pm at home.
