Senior, Paige Vanzant, would get the scoring started early for the Bearcats as she dribbles past defenders for the layup. Shortly after, Lindsey Peyton would find herself an easy basket under the hoop to extend the Bearcat lead to four. It wasn't long until the Red Wolves would drain a three-pointer to take the lead with six minutes left in the first quarter. Each team struggled taking care of the ball until Elise Williams finally broke the scoring drought with a layup in the paint. The Red Wolves would start to turn the shooting on as they take the lead on a made jump shot at the end of the first. The Lady Bearcats struggled to make shots in the second as IUE began to pull away with the lead going into half. BU could not recover in the second half as missed baskets plagued the Bearcat offense. Ultimately, the Red Wolves take the first meeting this season with a final score of 67-48.
Paige Vanzant led the Bearcat scoring with 14 points and six steals on the day. The Twin Towers in Courtney and Lindsey Peyton followed closely behind with a combined 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Bearcats will take on University of Southern Indiana for an exhibition matchup on Friday with a tipoff time of 1pm CT.
