Lady Bearcats Struggle in Loss to WVU Tech
BECKLEY, WV – The Brescia University women’s basketball team fall to 0-4 in RSC play following their loss to WVU Tech, 53-39. The Lady Bearcats extend their overall record to 4-8 at this point in the season.
The Bearcats struggled to find the net in the first seven minutes of the first quarter as the Golden Bears took an 8-0 advantage. Madelyn Lyon would break the silence for the Bearcats with a layup to get BU on the board with three minutes to go in the opening quarter. The Bearcats would start to find their rhythm to open the second as they surged on a 9-3 run to tie the score at 13 apiece. Paige Vanzant would give the Bearcats their first lead of the day on a made layup. Both teams would begin to slow down offensively as they go into the locker rooms tied for the second time.
Turnovers and missed free-throws would plague the Bearcat offense as the Golden Bears started to pull away. WVU Tech would outscore the Bearcats 36-22 over the next two quarters as the Golden Bears take their first win, 53-39.
Paige Vanzant led the offense with 12 points and six steals as she sot 50% from beyond the arc. Lindsey Peyton followed behind with seven points and seven rebounds.
The Bearcats return home this Saturday to take on Alice Lloyd with a tip-off time of 1pm CT.
