Women's Basketball End Road Trip with Loss to Ohio Christian, 76-49
CIRCLEVILLE, Oh. – The Brescia University women’s basketball team capped off their Ohio road trip 0-2 following their loss to Ohio Christian, 76-49. The Lady Bearcats fall to 4-13 overall and 0-9 in RSC play.
BU struggled shooting from the field as they rack up just 11 points in the first quarter as the Trailblazers push out to a 14-point lead. Paige Vanzant and Tia McGee combined for eight of the Bearcats 16 points in the second quarter. Lindsey Peyton would cut the OCU lead down to 16 with a three ball with a minute left to go before half.
The Trailblazers would outscore the Bearcats in the second half, 33-22. BU continued to struggle with turnovers as the 18 team turnovers would lead to 26 points for Ohio Christian. The Trailblazers led by as many as 34 points as the Bearcats shot just 33.9% from the field. However, the Bearcat defense kept the Trailblazers' #1 scorer to just 10 points in the matchup who put up 40 points earlier this week to conference rival, Oakland City.
Lindsey Peyton led the team as the only double digit scorer with 11 points and eight rebounds. Her twin counterpart, Courtney Peyton, followed with eight points of her own with five rebounds as she shot 2-3 from behind the arc.
The Lady Bearcats return to their home court this coming Tuesday for a non-conference matchup against Welch with a tip-off time of 6pm CT.
