After an extremely exciting weekend, the Bearcats close out the Brescia Classic with the matchup against the Eutectics. UHSP jumped out to an early 6-0 lead as Jenna Krampe broke the scoreless streak with a layup. The teams fought offensively as the first quarter ended tied at 11. The Bearcats flipped the script in the second quarter, outscoring the Eutectics 22-15 as Caroline Lucas scored eight of her 16 points. BU held on to the seven-point lead heading into half with two quarters left to play.
UHSP came out of the break refreshed and ready to fight back as they outscored the Bearcats 18-14 in the third, shrinking the BU lead to just three.
A foul by the Bearcats led to easy free throws for the Eutectics as the lead came down to one point. UHSP took advantage of a missed shot to take the lead for just the second time since the beginning of the game on a made three-pointer. A battle of the shots ensued until under the one-minute mark where Jordan Joe was sent to the line following a foul call. She sank both free shots to give the Bearcats the two-point advantage with just 30 seconds to go. The Eutectics tied it up yet again on a jump shot outside the paint with 10 seconds remaining. Joe again got sent to the line where she sealed the win for BU, making both free throws.
Brooklyn Stewart led the Bearcats with 17 points going 8-11 from the field. Caroline Lucas followed with 16 points while Jordan Joe had 13 points and 4-4 from the charity stripe.
The Bearcats will play their one and only exhibition matchup against USI this coming Monday at 6pm in Evansville, IN.
