ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Brescia University women's basketball team earned their second win of the year, defeating Harris-Stowe, 61-49. The Lady Bearcats even up their overall record to 2-2 this season.
After taking two tough loses to UT Southern and UNOH, the Lady Bearcats looked to even up their record against the Hornets. Each team exchanged buckets making for an exciting first quarter. Sophomores, Jenna Krampe and Caroline Lucas, sealed the first with back-to-back layups for the Bearcats, taking a four-point advantage. The pesky Bearcat defense kept the Hornets to just eight points in the second while the Bearcat Bench made up nine of their 15 points.
The scrappy Hornet team outscored BU in the third quarter as they forced the Bearcats into six turnovers, cutting the Bearcat lead to 10. However, BU kept Harris-Stowe at arm's length the entire fourth, never letting their offense close the gap. Ja'Mesha Brown led the Bearcats fourth with five points as BU free throws closed out the game for the win.
Jenna Krampe grabbed her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a career high of 16 rebounds. Brown added 10 points of her own on 4-6 shooting as she tallied one of every stat in the book. The Bearcats shot 45% from the field with a team high of 50 total rebounds and six steals.
The Lady Bearcats take the rest of the week off to prepare for the away trip to Cincinnati-Clermont on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
