Lady Bearcats Beat (RV) Lourdes by 17
OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University women’s basketball team improved to 10-3 overall Tuesday evening after defeating the nearly ranked Gray Wolves of Lourdes University.
OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University women's basketball team improved to 10-3 overall Tuesday evening after defeating the nearly ranked Gray Wolves of Lourdes University.
The Gray Wolves quickly showed why they were receiving nationally ranked votes with an early 7-0 lead. Kassidy London caught fire from behind the arc making three straight threes to pull the Bearcats ahead, 16-9, in the opening quarter. The Bearcats, not known for their three-point shooting, sank seven threes in the first half coming from multiple players. BU maintained a 6–7-point lead over Lourdes majority of the second quarter until the Gray Wolves cut the advantage to four in the final minutes.
Lourdes forced three turnovers in the opening minutes to get within two of the lead forcing a timeout by the Bearcats. The Gray Wolves worked their way back to tie the high scoring game at 55 on a made jumper outside the paint. Brooklyn Stewart started the scoring parade for the Bearcats on driving layup. An 8-0 run closed out the third quarter for BU as they pulled away. Brescia outscored Lourdes 20-13 in the fourth to close out the game and win by a 17-point margin.
Five Bearcats ended in double digits starting with sophomore Jenna Krampe (15), Brooklyn Stewart (14), Hailee Johnson (14), Cassidy Morris (13), and Kassady London (12). The starting five combined for 31 rebounds as the team shot 61% from the floor.
The Bearcats will continue into conference play at IU Kokomo this Saturday, Jan. 3, at 1pm.
