It was an impressive night offensively for the Lady Bearcats as they continue to dominate the competition. Coming off a close one-point win against IU Kokomo, BU looked to win their eighth game in a row in their home gym. Each team tested the waters in the opening quarter as they attempted to search or weak spots in the defenses. Back-to-back turnovers for the Bearcats made way for a Crimson Pride seven-point run. Caroline Lucas broke up the streak as she sank two baskets and an and-1 to get within one of the lead. The sharp-shooting Graci Risley subbed onto the floor and did what she does best, make threes. Her shot took the lead for BU going into the first media timeout. The opening quarter ended 16-15 in favor of the Crimson Pride.
Despite playing from behind in the second, free throws by Lucas took the lead as the Bearcats never relinquished the lead again. Two shots at the charity stripe for Ja'Mesha Brown gave the Lady Cats an eight-point lead heading into the break. Jenna Krampe and Lucas lead the Bearcats in the third with a combined 14 points. The Crimson Pride struggled physically as they sent the Bearcats to the line as they sank 16 of their 18 free throw attempts.
With the 62-48 lead, the Crimson Pride attempted to pressure the Bearcats into turnovers but were unsuccessful. IUC forgot about Jenna Krampe as she added 14 points in the fourth quarter for her career best 28 points, all in the paint. Ultimately, the Bearcats finished the victory with a 22-point lead as they remain undefeated in conference play.
Krampe lead all scorers with 28 points and 12 rebounds on 14-15 shooting. Lucas followed behind with 17 points with majority of her shots coming from the charity stripe. Brooklyn Stewart added 11 points as the bench produced 28 more in the win.
The Lady Bearcats will host Midway this coming Saturday, Jan. 2 at 12pm in The Den.
