Lady Cats Capture #1 Spot in Division
OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University women's basketball team earned a 36-point win over the visiting Grenadiers of IU Southeast in the River States Conference Game of the Week. The Lady Cats extend their overall record to 13-4 and 4-1 in RSC play as they secure the #1 seed in the division.

Following a fickle loss to Midway this past weekend, the Lady Bearcats looked to solidify their place at the top of the division. BU opened the match with a 19-point first quarter while keeping the Grenadiers to just 10 points. The defense stood strong through the second quarter as IUS made just three shots as BU extended their lead to 21 before the break. Caroline Lucas had the tough assignment as she defended the Grenadiers top scorer keeping her to just three points in the first half.
IU Southeast adjusted their offense as they began screening for their top options putting up a 23-point third quarter. The Bearcats countered with a 32-point quarter of their own, shooting 82% from the field to maintain their advantage. The Bearcats defense showed up in this matchup as they kept the Grenadiers to 29% shooting from the field and allowed 56 points.
Caroline Lucas led all scorers with 19 points while Brooklyn Stewart, Jenna Krampe, and Cassidy Morris also reached double figures. Hailee Johnson and Graci Risley each tabbed eight points from the second unit in the win. The Bearcats won the battle of the board with a 50-28 advantage.
The Lady Cats will travel to #8 Rio Grande this coming Saturday, Jan. 17 to take on the Red Storm at 12pm.
