Women's Basketball Claims West Division Title
OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University women’s basketball team secured the RSC West Division following their win over IU Kokomo Saturday. The Lady Bearcats will represent the #1 seed of the West as they take on the #4 seed of the East, WVU Tech. BU concluded the regular season with a 22-6 overall record and a 13-3 conference record.

After celebrating seniors, Jaylee Covington and Cassidy Morris, the Bearcats tipped off against the Cougars of IU Kokomo. The Bearcats took a commanding 33-12 lead in the first half against the Cougars. Brooklyn Stewart led the Bearcats in scoring in the first quarter as she went 3-3 from the field for six points. After nailing a three in the second quarter, Graci Risley remained hot from the floor, adding eight to her total with two more triples.
Caroline Lucas took advantage of the space on the left side of the floor as she got to the basket with ease for four of her five shots. Jenna Krampe found some space under the basket for her first attempts since the first quarter.
The Bearcats thrived from the floor shooting 40% and 30% from behind the arc. BU won the battle of the boards as they outrebounded the Cougars 40-37. Thirty-seven of Brescia's points came from off the bench in a well-rounded win.
Looking ahead to the Bearcat's next matchup, BU will play host to WVU Tech this coming Tuesday, Feb. 25 in The Den at 6pm. Just a few weeks ago, BU traveled to Beckley, WV to battle the Bears in a close win. The 89-83 victory was led by senior, Cassidy Morris, as she totaled 22 points with three three-pointers, 11 rebounds, and five assists; arguably her best game of the season. Shelbie Beatty and Hailee Johnson added 26 off the bench to assist in the matchup. Jenna Krampe and Kassady London bolstered the total with double-digit points.
