Lady Bearcats Advance to RSC Semifinals
OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University women’s basketball team cruised past #4 WVU Tech in the first round of the River States Conference Championship, 76-44. The 32-point win improves their record to 23-6 and home gym advantage in the Semifinals.

The Lady Bearcats wasted no time scoring quick and often as they surged out to a 14-0 lead over the Golden Bears. WVU Tech managed to score their first points at the five-minute mark. Six Bearcats saw their first points on the board in the opening quarter as they held an eight-point advantage. The Bearcats didn't stop there as they put up 24-points in the second quarter as they forced the Golden Bears into tough shots and turnovers. After building the 43-15 lead, the first half was had officially concluded as BU was 20-minutes away from victory.
Caroline Lucas and Hailee Johnson combined for 10 of the Bearcat's 17 third quarter points. The Golden Bears did find space around the basket as they doubled their score in the third. The Bearcat's lead was insurmountable by the fourth quarter as they locked down the win and home court advantage for Saturday's game.
Four Bearcats reached double digits in this one as Cassidy Morris led with 13 points and eight boards. Hailee Johnson followed with 11 and nine rebounds on 5-9 shooting. Brooklyn Stewart, Caroline Lucas, and Jenna Krampe all reached the decade mark in the win.
The Bearcats will host the #2 seed, Shawnee State, who they played earlier in the month. At the time, the Bears were ranked #23 in the nation as BU came out on top, 93-82. The first matchup was a constant battle and will become an exciting rematch between the two teams. In that win, Brooklyn Stewart led all scorers with 27 points as the Bears struggled to contain her down low. Caroline Lucas followed with 18 points of her own while Shelbie Beatty tallied 10 with two threes.
The Lady Bearcats will host the RSC Semifinals in The Den this coming Saturday, Feb 28. With a tipoff time of 3pm.
