Lady Bearcats Fall to Saint Francis in Opening Round
FORT WAYNE, In. – The Brescia University women’s basketball team faced off against the #2 seed, Saint Francis (Ind.), in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament. The women’s team fell to the Cougars, 84-56, to end their season. The Lady Bearcats finished 24-8 on the season barring an impressive two-year turn around.

The women's team fell to the Cougars, 84-56, to end their season. The Lady Bearcats finished 24-8 on the season barring an impressive two-year turn around.
The Lady Bearcats looked to return to tradition as they faced an 18-year tournament appearance drought. BU had trouble setting up the offense as they looked at a 23-6 deficit in the first quarter. After a Hailee Johnson three pointer, BU started to find their rhythm in the paint. BU outscored the Cougars in the second quarter 14-13, cutting the lead down to 16 at the halfway mark. The Cougars continued to shoot lights out from the floor as they pushed the lead even further. The Bearcats managed to match USF's score in the fourth quarter, but the Cougars had built a significant lead. BU fell in the first round of the NAIA Tournament, 84-56.
The Bearcats finished the season 24-8 and are continuing to recruit for the 2026-27 season.
