The Bearcats Fall in First Match to Warner, 6-0
OWENSBORO, KY. – The Brescia University women’s soccer team opened up their season with a 6-0 loss against the Royals of Warner University. The Lady Bearcats extend their record to 0-1 on the season.

The first five minutes played well defensively for both teams until the Royals were able to secure a corner kick that amounted to a goal kick for the Bearcats. It wasn't until the 30th minute that Warner was able to net their first goal of the season giving the Royals the 1-0 advantage. Two minutes after, the Royals were able to net the second goal on a misplayed ball by the Brescia defense. The Bearcats were able to keep Warner to just two by the end of the first period.
Unfortunately, the Bearcats could not hold off the Royals in the second half as Warner would add four goals to their lead to take the match, 6-0. The Bearcats were outshot 34-7 as Ashby Greenwell collects 15 saves in her first loss of the season.
The Lady Bearcats will hit the pitch again in Winona Lake, IN to take on #16 Grace College on Thursday Aug. 31 with a kickoff time of 6pm CT.
