Men's Volleyball Secures Sixth Seed in RSC Tournament

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Brescia University men's volleyball team finished their regular season with a 3-0 win over IU East. They concluded the season with a 10-12 overall record and a 7-9 conference record. Following the win, the Bearcats secured the sixth and final seed in the River States Conference Tournament. BU will travel to Cumberland, TN to take on the third-seeded Phoenix of Cumberland.

The Bearcats beat the Redwolves of IU East this past Saturday afternoon with final set scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 25-22. Mustafa Yildiz led the attacking front with 15 kills on 25 total chances along with five digs. Meric Akovali tallied 32 assists with two digs and three block assists. Joaquin Palacios was a wall at the net with seven total blocks and eight kills.

The first round of the RSC Tournament for the Bearcats will be held on Cumberland (TN) campus as the sixth seed travels to the third seed Phoenix. The Phoenix had taken both meetings against the Bearcats with 3-1 and 3-0 final scores in the regular season. The one set that the Bearcats won was at a home match on March 8^th. Joaquin Palacios and Mustafa Yildiz combined for 20 kills in the matchup.

The Bearcats will travel to Cumberland, TN on Tuesday, April 15, at 7pm CT.
